Trend Alert: RED

EXCITING  |  CONFIDENT  |  CLASSIC

R E D

With holiday hues in full force and winter weather FINALLY on the horizon, we just can't get enough of this season's "IT" color:  RED!

We were so excited when the bold, sexy color returned to runways earlier this year through way of domination during NYFW, and again when it stole the first spot in Pantone's Fashion Color Report post-fashion week.

DREAM HOME 2014

The return of red immediately sparked images of the foyer we designed for Dream Home's 10th Anniversary celebration back in 2014.  When designing this space, we grew more and more in tune with the realization that the color and classicism in the golds, textures, and layers were at the very heart of what made the room both inviting and timeless.  The key element was the drama created by Maya Romanoff's wall covering, Weathered Walls in Candy Apple, which is made to look like distressed leather panels.

RED-HOT ROOMS BY ICONIC DESIGNERS

Deemed a classic throughout history by both the fashion and design world, it's about time the standout color made its return!  Therefore, in celebration of the return of RED, we've rounded up a few red-hot rooms designed by the some of the world's most iconic interior designers:

Carolina Herrera's design in her own home.

Design by Suzanne Kasler - We especially love her use of tweed on this pair of vintage sofas, which reminded her of a classic Chanel suit.

In this room, Albert Hadley kept the chintz in the library that Sister Parish designed for Brooke Astor's apartment on Park Avenue, but he tore out the walls and put in brass-fitted bookshelves.

CS Interiors: "Exceptionally Cool"

WOW!!  This year has started out with quite the bang!

We are equally as thrilled as we are honored about our feature in the current issue of CS Interiors, highlighting one of our downtown Chicago projects.

HOWEVER, the cherry on top for me was having my 13-year-old daughter flip through the spread and exclaim, “Mom!  You designed this?  This is SICK!”  Of course, I quickly Googled what she meant by that and learned that “sick” is modern-day code for “badass” and “exceptionally cool.”  And that, my friends, is when you know you’ve made it!!

This project was a fun change of pace from our typical design style – A modern twist on luxury, located right in the heart of River North.  We wanted to give our clients an "Urban Oasis," and the final product was exactly that.

Interiors | Austin

My family and I LOVE Austin, Texas! Doug has been traveling there for business for over 15 years and I starting tagging along after my third daughter, Alexa was born in 2005. My love affair happened instantly. From the easy to navigate airport to their "Keep Austin Weird" culture, there is so much to discover and enjoy with every visit!

So, imagine my sheer delight and surprise, when a dear friend and local client asked me to help her design and build a second home for their family on Lake Travis. This romantic and relaxing bathroom is a "sneak peek" at the finished residence. Look for more images in our portfolio later this year when we capture all the Hill Country Germantown style of this "Home Away From Home" that inspires memory making and extended family fun for a lifetime.
